Everywhere we look we see staggering statistics like "8 million tons of plastic are dumped into the ocean every year" or "less than 10% of plastic is actually recycled." These reports are scary as hell, rightfully so. And it's so easy to see these overwhelming figures and succumb to the idea that what you, alone, do isn't going to even put a dent in that number, trust me I've felt that too.
So here I am to tell you that it's okay. It's okay if you have no idea where to start. It's okay if you don't know what the little numbers mean on the bottom of plastic containers so you just toss them all in the recycling bin and hope for the best (I'll help you with this). It's okay if your beauty routine isn't 100% organic, or you leave the shower running while you shave your legs. It's okay if you use disposable diapers, or hate the idea of a menstrual cup. And it's okay if you've fed your kids Taco Bell for the past 3 nights. It's all okay. Life is about balance. I'll say it again for the people in the back, B A L A N C E.
Welcome to the Green House Project, a realistic approach to sustainability.
My name is Mary Green. I am 26 years old, born and raised in beautiful Maine. I've had a vision in my mind for years of a platform that would allow me to inform, create, cultivate relationships, learn, and hopefully make a difference. So here I am. I have been practicing conscious consumerism for as long as I can remember. Along the way I've been my own guinea pig. I've learned, I've failed (a lot), I've invested, and I've found so many rock star products that I'm excited to share. So join me, join the project. Start where you're at. We're all just doing the best we can, and that's okay.
